Change of Service Vehicles in Rural East Anglia

In Agricultural & Industrial, Tractor Tyres, Truck Tyres

Lodge Tyre Co Ltd has just taken delivery of two brand new Volkswagen Crafter LWB 4-motion dropside trucks. The previous tool of choice was the Mercedes Sprinter equivalent but being rear-wheel-drive, this had the disadvantage of often getting stuck on soft terrain. When a breakdown is reported to us, be it on a truck or tractor, we pride ourselves in taking that problem away from the customer and getting their vehicle back to work as quickly as possible. If our own service van is not 100% reliable in all situations, our service could fall short.

Asked to comment on the investment at our Fakenham and Downham Market stores, Mr Stuart Sharpe, Lodge Tyre Agricultural Sales Manager said, “With agriculture changing to bigger & bigger machinery, a farmer who normally had two or 3 combines now only has one. Due to the sheer size of them it is essential to get them going again as soon as possible.”

Commenting also on the extra payload capacity of the Volkswagen Crafter compared to the Mercedes Sprinter, Stuart said, ”We benefit from the tail lift being mesh, and with the vans being fitted with tow bars, hence with the trailer we can carry 4 big tractor tyres at a time. Before it sometimes used to need 2 vehicles to get the customer up and running.”

Anyone wishing to contact Stuart can do so by mailing stuartsharpe@nulllodgetyre.com or ringing 07736 271058.

Meantime we look forward to keeping the farmers of East Anglia on the move.
